The project was initiated by an individual from the IT industry who wanted to launch a platform similar to Wykop.pl but without advertisements.
It is part of the multifaceted social platform industry and targets the Polish market. The website allows users to share interesting links and engage in discussions.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was developing a platform capable of handling substantial user traffic. We aimed to create a competitive alternative to wykop.pl in the Polish online space. The platform was intended to offer users an ad-free environment for sharing and discovering content, fostering a strong online community. Key business requirements included ensuring the platform's speed and implementing automated moderation to prevent the publication of inappropriate content.
The client's ambition was to realize a long-held vision, but managing evolving requirements within the initial budget was challenging. Plans also included expanding the platform to another market.
Our Solution
Netkodo began with a detailed business analysis to design a system architecture that effectively leverages AWS native services, such as:
- Cognito for user management,
- S3 for file storage,
- RDS for the database.
The development process included designing the system architecture, building the backend and frontend, and conducting user and performance tests.
The platform's technology stack uses Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, nginx, Docker, GitHub, Elasticsearch, and PostgreSQL.
To address the issue of users uploading inappropriate content, Netkodo integrated an AI-driven tool to detect and block pornographic material and hate speech automatically.
Achieved results
The project resulted in a platform that enables users to share content, express opinions, and engage in discussions.
The platform's key features include the ability for users to add posts, comment on content, and subscribe to specific topics.
The platform experienced growth in both content volume and user base.
